Job Summary:

​

The Construction Spotter plays a vital role in maintaining safety and preventing accidents on construction sites by assisting equipment operators with maneuvering heavy machinery. This position involves closely monitoring the movement of equipment, identifying potential hazards, and communicating with operators to ensure the safe operation of equipment. The Construction Spotter works as a key member of the safety team, ensuring that all work areas are clear of obstructions and that proper safety protocols are followed. This role demands excellent attention to detail, quick decision-making, and strong communication skills to maintain a safe work environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

​

  • Equipment Guidance: Assist equipment operators in navigating job sites safely by providing clear and accurate hand signals or radio communication.

​

  • Hazard Identification: Continuously monitor the work area for potential hazards such as workers, obstacles, or uneven terrain, and communicate these to the equipment operator.

​

  • Safety Protocols: Enforce all site safety protocols and ensure that the job site complies with OSHA and company safety standards.

​

  • Site Inspections: Perform routine inspections of the work zone to ensure that areas are clear of unnecessary materials and obstacles.

​

  • Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with equipment operators and ground personnel to ensure everyone is aware of ongoing operations.

​

  • Accident Prevention: Actively work to prevent accidents by staying alert and responding quickly to changes in the work environment.

​

  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other site personnel, including project managers and safety officers, to ensure smooth site operations and safety.

 

Requirements:

​

  • Proven experience as a construction spotter or in a similar safety-related role.

  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and protocols in construction environments.

  • Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in hand signals and radio communication.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to anticipate potential hazards on active job sites.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.

  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations and industry safety standards.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in heavy equipment operations or a construction-related field.

  • Knowledge of construction site layouts and common hazards.

  • Certifications in construction safety or heavy equipment operation.

  • Experience working in high-risk environments.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily outdoor work on construction sites, often exposed to varying weather conditions.

  • Physical stamina required for extended periods of standing, walking, and observing.
